Progressive Animal Wellness is a growing one doctor general practice in the affluent Hartford suburb of Avon, CT. We are planning to expand our hours and our professional staff, so we looking to add an experienced, veterinary technician to our team. Our practice offers the highest quality medicine and customer service to our patients and clients with the inclusion of state of the art medical equipment and communication systems. Our team is composed of a small group of talented and motivated people who have created a positive and supportive work culture.
Ideal candidates are expected to have graduated from a veterinary certification program and have 2-3 years of experience in small animal practice, although certification is not a requirement. The position will require the performance of several duties including those of room technician, client education and outpatient appointments, care and maintenance of the facility, marketing events and reception duties as needed. Because we strive to maintain a positive work environment, your application must include specific ways in which you have contributed towards this goal in your previous positions. Candidates for this job should be proficient in all aspects of basic and advanced animal care to include, but not limited to: animal restraint, administering oral and injectable treatments, placing IV catheters, taking x-rays, drawing blood, running lab tests, and operating and maintaining diagnostic equipment. Our veterinary technicians are also expected to perform dental cleanings, take digital dental x-rays, and assist our veterinarian with dental and surgical procedures.

• Must have basic pharmacology knowledge.
• Must be able to multi-task.
• Must be computer literate and able to perform general clerical duties. Familiarity with Windows based programs and able to navigate the internet.
• Must be able maintain accurate medical records, both written and electronically.
• Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Must be able to assist in medical procedures which will require standing, walking, using hands, hearing, sight, speaking, and shuttling patients or equipment (up to 40 lbs. unassisted) numerous times on a daily basis.
• Must be able to participate in a surgical on-call rotation (once fully trained), which occurs on average, once every 4-5 weeks.
• Must be familiar with veterinary terminology and anatomy.
• Must maintain a positive and professional attitude.
