We are Middlebury Animal Clinic, a small animal clinic in the heart of scenic Northern Indiana. We are a two doctor practice with 8 support staff, including two R.V.T’s. We are looking to add one or two R.V.T’s to our team as we continue to grow. We practice the most modern and up to date medicine available. Our clientele is second to none and make working with them a pleasure every day. We strive for best medicine, compassion and excellent client compliance.
The Job
Prospective employees must be licensed in the state of Indiana or applying for license as your schooling is complete. New graduates are welcome to apply. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, competent in their skills, friendly, fun loving and responsible. The job is 4 days a week from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. There are no nights or weekends.
We utilize our technicians to the fullest levels of their training. You will be restraining, running lab work, venipuncture, placing IV catheters, taking radiographs, interacting with clients, taking history’s, giving injections, monitoring anesthesia and doing dental prophy’s, etc.
The Pay
Compensation is commensurate with experience. We also provide paid time off, a uniform allowance, CE allowance, paid licenses and dues and have an sIRA matching retirement plan and personal pet discounts.

The clinic is situated in the quaint Amish country but only an hour away from the shores of Lake Michigan and short drive to much larger metropolitan areas. Our four seasons give way to many outdoor activities. We have an abundance of parks and recreational areas in the community including the Pumpkin Vine bike trail. Licensed Veterinary Technician – 1 to 2 days a week - desired for a small cat-only veterinary hospital in Flatiron/Chelsea area of lower Manhattan. A minimum of 2 years experience in a veterinary setting is required for your resume to be reviewed. The Licensed Veterinary Technician's key role is to provide assistance to the veterinarian and to carry out the veterinarian's medical orders, assist with procedures, as well as take care of the everyday needs of pets in the hospital ward and boarding facility, and help maintain the hospital facility. This position also helps with light reception duties that are shared with other assistants.

The schedule days are flexible, which will be agreed upon at time of hiring – 1 to 2 days a week. Each shift starts at 8:00AM and ends at 6:00PM (except Saturday, which ends at 5:00PM). An employee in this position must have a sense of caring for animals, be able to lift approximately 25 pounds, work on their feet all day, and read and communicate in English.
Essential Functions:
- Care - Provide compassionate care for pets. Provide friendly interaction with clients and animals. - Medical care- Give medications, assist or perform treatments, diagnostics and monitoring, place IV catheters, draw blood, run lab tests, administer IV fluids, cleaning, feeding, and walking patients as needed.
- Boarding- Manage feeding, cleaning cages, and exercising boarding animals.
- Clinic technician- Assist doctor with outpatient appointments, preparing, restocking, cleaning exam room, check patients in and out, take history and vitals, input date into patient medical record, and ensure a smooth and timely flow of outpatient appointments from the check-in to the discharge.
- Anesthesia- Induction, maintenance, monitoring, and recovery of patients; clean / maintain anesthesia equipment.
- Surgery- Surgical prep, veterinarian assistance; clean, sterilize, and maintain all surgical instruments and/or equipment.
- Dentistry- Provide patient dental care, ultrasonic cleaning and polishing, assist doctor with dental surgery, take dental radiographs.
- Radiology- Position patients and take radiographs.
- Laboratory duties- Collect, prepare, and run or submit samples for requested tests; read and record results when indicated (fecals, urines, ear cytology etc.) when requested by veterinarian.
- Client communication- Give patient updates, discharge instructions, and provide follow up for certain hospital patients.
- Client medical demonstrations / education- At home care about medication, fluids, shots, and other tests.
- Technician appointments- Blood draws for therapeutic monitoring / screening tests, bandage changes, post-op checks, suture removals, AG, NT.
- Follow legal standards- Always adhere to OSHA standards and all laws applicable to veterinary hospitals.
- Prepare documents- Invoices, discharge sheets, procedure authorizations, and client information packs.
- Assist with reception / front desk- Duties can vary from answering phones, booking appointments, and admitting / discharging patients.
- Assist in training and mentoring new team members.
- Inventory control- Document all inventory usage history; unpacking, restocking drug and medical supplies.
- Medication- Prepare prescriptions; dispense medications and medication refills.
- Hospital cleaning- Assist in cleaning hospital facilities, including bathrooms, reception, and boarding area as needed.
