Facilities:

  • Manage laundry and pet food area, keeping dishes washed and loads moving at all times.
  • Monitor supplies and paper towels in all areas of the hospital.
  • Empty garbage as needed. Pay attention to hospital odor control.
  • Always display a “wet floor” sign after mopping an area.
  • Perform general janitorial duties to help maintain a clean professional hospital.
  • Restock inventory items and immediately note deficiencies on the “want list”.
  • Perform ‘**** patrol’ at least once per shift and restock bags.

Phone Responsibilities:

  • Answer every phone call before the third ring with a friendly and compassionate tone
  • Provide basic medical advice. If you are unsure, consult the Doctor for the correct advice
  • Be able to address client questions and provide accurate information, both on the phone and in person
  • Never make diagnoses or refuse service
  • Immediately notify a CVS doctor if a referring veterinarian is on the phone
  • Direct telephone calls to the appropriate party, taking messages as needed
  • Take personal responsibility for any commitment made to clients and RDVMs during phone conversations
  • Update the medical records regarding any patients not in the hospital
  • Update VIA if any updates are given for patients in hospital

General:

  • Be able to work with other team members and consistently treat all clients and co-workers with courtesy and professionalism
  • Always respect patient/client confidentiality
  • Immediately notify the Floor Lead/Supervisor/Doctor of any client that seems to be uncomfortable or unhappy with any aspect of our hospital
  • Complete training and continuing education assignments on schedule
  • Refrain from personal conversations with other staff members while clients are present in exam rooms or the lobby
  • Follow safe procedures and immediately inform your Supervisor of unsafe conditions/practices
  • Handle all animals with both caution and compassion. Do not physically discipline animals
  • You may be requested to work beyond regularly scheduled shifts at times due to an unexpectedly heavy emergency caseload

Physical Demands: The position of a Veterinary Technician Level III in Oncology requires constant exposure to hospital conditions. The position is exposed to moderate to ambient noise levels, controlled temperature conditions and exposure to hazardous physical substances. Use of hearing and comprehension to carry out detailed verbal instructions. Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less); Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet of more); color vision (ability to identify & distinguish colors). The position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, twisting, reaching and occasionally pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying of materials and/or patients that may weigh up to 50 pounds or more. Any patients or materials weighing 50 pounds or more must have at least one other person assisting with the task.
